Job Description

Understand and able to apply drilling fluids principles and perform well control calculations
Calculate volumes for cement jobs and basic mud hydraulics; perform casing tally and space out on the rig
Ensure all rig site task-specific procedures have been risk-assessed and rig site QA/QC plan requirements are addressed

Required Qualifications:     Bachelor’s Degree in Petroleum, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil or Chemical Engineering with a minimum of Second Class Upper Division.

Required Skills:     Mastery of Wellview Drilling and Database Application.
Ability to analyze Drilling Operations data
Good organizational and interpersonal skills
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
Effective communication skills.

Experience One (1) – Two (2) years relevant post degree work experience (includes National Youth Service) with a minimum of Six (6) months industry experience in Drilling and Completions operations

SENIOR EDUCATION ADVISORY
Will provide technical leadership in carrying out activities related to improving teacher pre-servicing training and professional development programming. He/she will work collaboratively with responsible Nigerian institutions to support on-ongoing education reform in the pre-servicing training sector. He/she will serve on the Senior Management Team and report directly to the Project Director.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. in education with at least ten years of relevant experience in teacher training. In particular at the pre-service level, and working with Colleges of education, responsible government departments and parastatal institution ; prior experience analyzing and developing teacher training curriculum, methodology and practices, and option for teacher education, reservist teacher training  and professional development; fully versed in Nigeria’s education system

TRAINING COORDINATOR

Will be responsible for coordinating all training activities under this program, focused on colleges of education, teacher trainers, and student-teacher. He/she will work in close cooperation with government and parastatal institution and education officials, with a minimum of 8 years experience coordinating teacher activities and inputs; fully versed in Nigeria’s education system; proven ability as a facilitator/trainer and manager; strong communication skills English, with a track record of producing well written reports to deadlines; ability to effectively manage and monitor budgets; USAID experience preferred
FINANCE MANAGER
Will oversee and manage financial management and reporting functions to ensure compliance with terms of the contract, including supervising, coordinating and training finance staff across central and state-based officers. He/she will ensure appropriate systems and procedures (payroll, cash management, vendor payments, budgeting and others related to financial management) are in place to properly disburse, account, budget and report project funds in a cost effective and timely manner, and with proper internal controls. Specific responsibilities include: preparing and submitting monthly financial statements (including expenses, receivable and payable, funds requests, reconciliations) and other reporting requirements to RTI’s head office within the designated time period; implementing =, consolidating and monitoring cost effective  and efficient systems (including accounting software) and procedures with strong internal controls; coordinating the tracking of the finances related to grant and/or  scholarship; and preparing other financial and cost accounting reports, operations and analysis  as required by management and RTI head office.
QUALIFICATION
Chartered accountant /Certified Public Accountant and/or MBA required; minimum 10 years working experience in the accounting/finance field; 5 years managerial experience; and proficiency in MS excel. Knowledge of QuickBooks is desirable =. Experienced with managing USAID funds and knowledge of USAID regulations preferred
ADMINISTRATIVE MANAGER
Will provide directs supports to the projects by carrying out and /or supervising support and implementing tasks, including relating routine administration, travel, personnel, translation, and materials development. He/she will coordinating office communication, reports and information management and ensure that vehicle and office lease, utilities, deliveries, security, maintenance, office supplies and equipment are properly handled; supervise, coordinate and prioritize the daily work schedules of support staff consisting of office assistants, receptionist, drivers, etc. across central and state-based offices; other duties assigned.
QUALIFICATION
Degree in Business Administration or related field; at least 5 years experience performing similar duties, preferably on USAID or other donor-funded projects; familiarity  with Nigerian labour polices and HR regulations; demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

DUTIES
Successful candidate will among other things:
  • Supervise all field research activities for Striga resistance and N use efficiency breeding programs;

  • Supervise screening in the laboratory and screen-house and initiate new screening methods;

Background: The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) with headquarters in Ibadan, Nigeria invites applications for the post of Roots and Tuber Systems Agronomist.
IITA is a non-profit organization based in Africa. It works with national entities to increase food production in tropical Africa. Position: The Roots and Tuber Agronomist will work with other agronomists, plant breeders, plant health scientists, social scientists, and other colleagues to develop crop, soil and pest management options for root and tuber systems, with emphasis on cassava and yam based systems. IITA has, in the past, generated several component technologies which when applied in carefully selected combinations and with due consideration to prevailing socioeconomic factors will produce more synergistic and sustained outcomes associated with high cropping system productivity. The Systems Agronomist will provide leadership in synthesizing integrated crop, soil and pest management options with high probability of success in different agro ecological zones in sub-Saharan Africa.
Duty Station:  Ibadan, IITA Headquarters, Nigeria. Frequent travel is expected and candidates should be willing to work in small-scale farm settings in Africa.
Responsibilities: The primary responsibilities for the Agronomist will include:
  • Conducting strategic and adaptive research on the agronomy of root and tuber crops, building on past research and responding to needs as identified jointly with project teams.
  • Investigating nutrient flows, nutrient use efficiency, and beneficial cultural practices in the use of fertilizers in root and tuber systems.
  • Investigating adaptation of root and tuber crop germplasm to target environments.
  • Designing, planning, testing and disseminating integrated crop, soil and pest management strategies for root and tuber systems that address farmers’ needs along different intensification gradients in sub-Saharan Africa
  • Adapting and testing tools (e.g. simulation models, information systems, and GIS) for matching improved technologies to different farmer-targeted niches for root and tuber crop production.
  • Contributing to studies on genotype x soil fertility interactions and the design of breeding strategies towards increased fertilizer use efficiency in root and tuber cropping systems.
  • Contributing to propagation of selected root and tuber crop varieties for widespread and rapid distribution through links with national programs and the private sector.
  • Resource mobilization through grant proposals and strengthening of partners’ capacities, including co-supervision of postgraduate thesis research with university lecturers.
Educational requirements: The candidate should have a PhD degree in Agronomy with experience in integrated crop, soil and pest management
Core Competencies:
  • Proven skills and experience in agronomy research both in the field and the laboratory.
  • Good scientific publication record.
  • Familiarity with participatory and action research methods.
  • Modeling of cropping systems.
  • Computer literacy and statistical data analysis capabilities.

  • Excellent leadership, management, interpersonal, and team building skills.
